Many of the important events in the history of the Romanians happened in Iasi, the capital of Moldavia for three centuries (1564-1862). In this place there have been Alexandru cel Bun (Alexandru the Good), Stefan cel Mare (Stefan the Great), Mihai Viteazul (Mihai the Brave), Alexandru Lapusneanu, Vasile Lupu and other famous voivodes of Moldavia. Although it has been through many difficult times, Iasi was reborn each time, becoming nowadays a modern city.
